Wishing you and ali of WAPC EC Menıbers happy and prosperous New Year2010.
Bangladeşli - Short Report Editors & Journalists in Bangladesh enjoying freedom. Article: 39 of the constitution of Bangladesh ensured press freedom with logical restrictions. The restrictions are (1) Security of the state (2) Defamation (3) Contempt of Court and (4) No harmful news about any friendly country of the vvorld. Bangladesh Press Council Fully controlled by the Government. Chairman of the Council appointed by the government. Members of the council nominated by chairman as per directive of the minister and Bureaucrats. The members are the supporter of ruling party and Government. The council is a statutory body, financially crippled by the government.
As WAPC declaration, Bangladesh press Council in not independent and not free from government interference.
Editors, Journalists and stakeholders are in process to constitute independent press council in Bangladesh. This council will be constitute with members from the ali regains of the country
WAPC EC Meeting It was the decision of the WAPC General Assembly in istanbul on July 9, 2008 that next WAPC EC meeting will be held in TRNC in March 2010. If possible, please inform about the meeting.
