A graduate in sociology, Mukajanga has attended six different courses in journalism, including a one year Gordon N. Fisher Fellowship in Journalism at the University of Toronto (1996-97).

He has for more than a decade practiced as a reporter, editor and trainer at various schools of journalism and across twenty three Press Clubs of Tanzania.
